Who We Are
BooFlix ("we", "us", "our") is a free streaming application that provides access to movies, TV shows, web series, anime, and live channels. The BooFlix app is distributed as an Android APK and is also accessible via sideloading on iOS, and through Android emulators on Windows and Mac.
This Privacy Policy governs your use of the BooFlix application and any associated websites or services operated under the BooFlix name. By installing or using BooFlix, you agree to the data practices described in this document.
Information We Collect
BooFlix is designed around minimal data collection. The data we handle falls into two categories: data generated automatically when you use the app, and data you choose to provide if you create an account.
2.1 Guest Users (No Account)
If you use BooFlix without creating an account, we collect no personally identifiable information. The only data generated is listed below and is entirely anonymous.

2.2 Registered Users (Optional Account)
Creating an account is entirely optional. If you choose to register, we collect only the following:
- Email address — stored in hashed form, used for account recovery only
- Password — stored as a bcrypt hash, never in plain text
- Watchlist — titles you saved, stored on your device and optionally synced to our servers if you enable cloud sync
- Watch history — episodes and films you watched, stored locally by default
How We Use Your Data
Every piece of data we collect has a specific, limited purpose. We do not use data for advertising profiling, and we do not build user behaviour profiles for sale or transfer to third parties.
- Anonymous device and OS data is used to test compatibility and fix bugs across different Android and iOS versions.
- Crash reports are used by our engineering team to identify and resolve app stability issues in the next release.
- Server selection data is used to balance load across our server infrastructure and remove underperforming nodes.
- Hashed email addresses are used only for account password recovery — no marketing emails are sent without explicit opt-in.
- Watchlist and history data, when synced, lets you resume content across reinstalls or device changes.
Data We Never Collect
The following categories of data are never collected by BooFlix under any circumstances, regardless of account type or device:
- Real name, physical address, phone number, or government ID
- Payment card numbers, bank account details, or financial data of any kind
- Precise GPS location or IP-based location beyond country-level
- Contact list, calendar, or camera access
- Microphone recordings or voice data
- Biometric data of any kind
- Browsing history outside of the BooFlix app
- Social media profiles or login credentials from other services
- Any data from users we identify as under the age of 13
Cookies & Tracking
The BooFlix mobile application does not use browser cookies — it is a native Android/iOS app, not a website. The following data storage mechanisms are used inside the app:
5.1 Local App Storage
- App preferences (theme, quality setting, language) are saved in local app storage on your device and are never transmitted to our servers.
- Watchlist and watch history are stored locally by default. Cloud sync, if you enable it on a registered account, transmits this data securely.
- Downloaded files are saved to your device's private app folder or the SD card location you choose. They are encrypted and readable only within BooFlix.
5.2 BooFlix Website
Our website uses the following minimal cookie types:

We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or cross-site tracking technology of any kind.
Third-Party Services
BooFlix aggregates publicly available streaming links hosted by independent third-party providers. When you play a video, the stream is served by that third-party server, and your connection is made directly to that server. Their data practices are governed by their own privacy policies, which are outside our control.

Data Sharing
BooFlix does not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data with third parties for commercial purposes. The limited cases where data may be disclosed are:
- Legal obligation — if required by a valid court order or law enforcement request in the applicable jurisdiction, we may be required to disclose account data. We will notify affected users where legally permitted to do so.
- Service providers — anonymised, aggregated crash data is shared with our crash analytics provider under a data processing agreement. No personal data is included.
- Business transfer — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, user data would transfer to the new entity under the same privacy commitments. Users would be notified at least 30 days in advance.
Data Security
We apply industry-standard security measures to the data we hold. The following protections are in place:
- All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using TLS 1.3.
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt with a minimum cost factor of 12 before storage — plain-text passwords are never stored or logged.
- Email addresses are stored in hashed form — the original address cannot be reconstructed from our records.
- Downloaded content is stored in an encrypted private folder on your device, inaccessible to other apps.
- Our servers are hosted in data centres with SOC 2 Type II certification and 24/7 intrusion monitoring.
- Access to user data within our team is restricted on a need-to-know basis and logged.
Despite these measures, no system is completely secure. If you become aware of a security vulnerability in BooFlix, please disclose it responsibly to [email protected].
Data Retention
We retain data only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected. Retention periods by data type:

Guest users generate no account data — there is nothing to retain or delete beyond the anonymous session metrics listed in Section 2.1, which are purged within 30 days.
Children's Privacy
BooFlix is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we become aware that a user under 13 has provided personal data, we will delete that information immediately.
Users aged 13 to 17 may use BooFlix with parental guidance. The app includes a PIN-protected Adult Zone. Parents and guardians can contact us at [email protected] to request review or deletion of any data associated with a minor's account.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data. We honour these rights for all users globally, regardless of jurisdiction.
Right to Access
Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you. We will respond within 30 days.
Right to Rectification
Ask us to correct inaccurate data associated with your account at any time.
Right to Erasure
Request deletion of your account and all associated data. Processed within 14 days.
Right to Restriction
Ask us to stop processing your data while a dispute or review is in progress.
Right to Portability
Receive your watchlist and history data in a standard, machine-readable format (JSON or CSV).
Right to Object
Object to any processing of your data that you believe lacks a legitimate legal basis.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] with your registered email address and the specific right you wish to exercise. We do not charge a fee for reasonable requests.
International Users
BooFlix is used globally. If you access the app from outside the country where our servers are located, your data may be transferred across international borders. We ensure that any such transfer is covered by appropriate safeguards.
GDPR — European Users
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent legislation. Our legal basis for processing the limited data described in this policy is Legitimate Interest — specifically, maintaining the security and proper functioning of the application.
CCPA — California Users
California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to opt out of the sale of personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. BooFlix does not sell personal information to any party, so the opt-out right is not applicable. All other CCPA rights apply and can be exercised by contacting us.
Pakistan & South Asia
BooFlix serves a large user base in Pakistan and South Asia. We comply with the applicable data protection framework and do not share or disclose user data to any government body without a valid legal instrument.
Policy Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and in the app's Settings → About section.
- Display an in-app notification for registered users when material changes are made.
- For significant changes affecting your rights, provide at least 30 days' notice before the new policy takes effect.
- Archive previous versions of this policy, which remain available on request.
Continued use of BooFlix after the effective date of any policy update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you may delete your account and discontinue use of the app.
