BooFlix started with a simple idea — great entertainment should not cost a monthly subscription. Today, over 200 million users across 150 countries stream for free because of that idea.
BooFlix was founded in 2019 by a small team of developers who were frustrated by one thing: the cost of watching a movie online was higher than ever, yet the technology to deliver it had never been cheaper. Subscription fatigue was real — people were paying for four platforms and still not finding what they wanted to watch.
The team built the first version of BooFlix in three months. It had a simple interface, 500 titles, and ran only on Android. Within six weeks it had a million downloads. That number told them everything they needed to know.
By 2021 BooFlix had expanded to iOS, PC, and FireStick. By 2023 the library crossed 10,000 titles. The 2026 release of v9.7 brought a new player engine, offline download, Picture-in-Picture, and a 4K section — making BooFlix the most complete free streaming app available anywhere.
The mission has never changed: free, fast, and available on every device you own.
A 4-person team, a single Android app, and 500 titles. The first version launched in Q3 2019 with no marketing budget.
One million downloads in six weeks. 50 million by end of 2021. Growth driven entirely by word of mouth — no paid advertising.
BooFlix now serves users in 150+ countries across South Asia, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa, and Europe.
v9.7 is the biggest release in BooFlix history. The team ships updates every 4–6 weeks with new content, fixes, and features.
Two ideas that guide every decision we make.
Entertainment is a universal need. Geography, income, and language should not determine what someone gets to watch. BooFlix exists to remove every barrier between a person and the content they want — with no subscription, no paywall, and no hidden fees, ever.
We are building toward a world where any person on any device — whether it is a flagship phone or a seven-year-old Android tablet — can access the same quality of entertainment without paying a rupee, a dollar, or a pound. Accessibility is not a feature. It is the product.
Seven years of building, growing, and improving.

Six principles that shape every version of BooFlix we ship.
A subscription model will never be introduced. BooFlix was built on the promise of free access and that promise is permanent — not a marketing phase.
Every engineering decision starts with one question: does this make the app faster? Buffering and slow loads are the enemy. We treat them as bugs, not limitations.
BooFlix supports 12 languages, runs on Android 5 and above, and works on devices with 1 GB RAM. Low-end hardware is not an afterthought.
Guest users generate zero identifiable data. We collect the bare minimum needed to run a stable app, and nothing more. Your watch history belongs to you.
We ship updates every 4–6 weeks. Community bug reports are taken seriously. If something is broken, it gets fixed in the next release — not the next quarter.
BooFlix grew to 200 million users with no advertising. Every feature priority is shaped by what users actually ask for, not what looks good in a product roadmap.
The people building BooFlix — a remote-first team spread across six countries.
Product vision and company direction. Previously built two Android apps with 10M+ downloads before founding BooFlix in 2019.
Leads all engineering. Designed the multi-server streaming architecture and the BooFlix player engine that powers v9.7.
Every pixel of the BooFlix interface has his fingerprints on it. Focused on making the app feel fast before it even loads a video.
Manages the 25,000+ title library — sourcing, categorising, and quality-checking every addition across Bollywood, Hollywood, K-Drama, and anime.
Keeps the servers running for 200 million users. Manages the CDN network and the automatic failover system that makes buffering rare.
Wrote the privacy policy and terms of service. Handles DMCA requests and ensures BooFlix's data practices remain minimal and compliant.
